Clinical Psychology
The clinical psychologist provides assessment, consultative and treatment services. The individual psychological needs of patients and their place within families and the community is recognised.
Where possible brief, problem-focused and cost-effective intervention is provided which assists patients to take responsibility for their psychological health.
Referrals
Referrals are accepted from a medical officer at Osborne Park Hospital.
Referrals are also made via Day Hospital, Wards 3 and 4, Parkinsons Clinic or from a GP in the community.
General practitioners should refer their patients for a medical review and not to the clinical psychologist directly.
Very often, referral is made following a medical review where the medical officer becomes aware for example, of sadness related to grief, or depression, or symptoms of anxiety that could be assisted with psychological intervention. Cognitive assessment may also be requested.
Following referral the clinical psychologist will call to make an initial appointment. A letter will follow.
