Diabetes

The diabetes service at Osborne Park Hospital provides a centre of excellence, education and support for patients with diabetes from outside in the community and from within the hospital.

Diabetes Services

The main aim of the diabetes service is to ensure positive health outcomes and support for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and to reduce hospital admissions through ambulatory insulin stabilisation.

Outpatients may be referred for education by GPs, specialists, or from other health care facilities such as Joondalup and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals.

Only outpatients requiring ambulatory insulin initiation and stabilisation are seen at Osborne Park Hospital while those with Type 2 diabetes, not requiring insulin are referred on for group education.

Inpatients are referred for education and on-going management by the nursing and medical staff.

Outpatient consultations are only available to patients with a written referral (Word) from their GP / specialist and who live within the NMHS region. There is no cost associated with the consultation.
