New garden bench for OPH Indigenous garden 04 May 2020 As part of the OPH Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Group’s commitment to acknowledging the traditional owners and providing a culturally responsive environment, an Indigenous medicinal garden also known as Anthony’s Place was planted outside K Block in November 2019. The garden, a place of quiet reflection and sanctuary for all members of the community to enjoy, has been named after Anthony Ninyette, a proud Aboriginal staff member who has tended the OPH gardens for 14 years. Visiting assistance animals in NMHS hospitals 29 April 2020 To coincide with International Guide Dog Day, celebrated this year on 29 April, the NMHS hospital network has produced a Visiting Assistance Animals guide (PDF) that recognises the importance of assistance animals and welcomes their use, where appropriate, in our facilities. The Guide provides information about the use of assistance animals in our hospitals and arrangements that may need to be made for patients, visitors and their assistance animal. International Guide Dog Day acknowledges the critical role that guide dogs and assistance animals play in enabling people with impaired vision to get around safely. Care Opinion - Above and beyond service at OPH 20 April 2020 Care Opinion (external site) is an online platform that enables members of the public to tell us about their experience with our services. This information is used to improve services and to recognise staff and teams who may go above and beyond our patient's expectations. OPH's Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff recently received some wonderful feedback from a grateful senior patient via Care Opinion. "I am a senior who has a disability and am reliant on heavy-duty crutches to enable me to be mobile within my home. OPH Stroke Team named best in WA for patient outcomes 03 April 2020 The OPH Stroke team recently won an award at the Australian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC) workshop for achieving the best patient outcomes against all other rehabilitation services in WA. The stroke team is a multidisciplinary team that consistently works hard to help patients achieve the best outcomes in their rehabilitation. Kien Chan Stroke Consultant said he was pleased that the team was recognised for their hard work. Celebrating our dedicated staff! 26 August 2019 Congratulations to Rosie Hogg, Osborne Park Hospital Relief Clerk, who is our Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group Employee of the Month Award winner for August.
